times...they are a changin'

bob and i recently got the opportunity to get out from under "renter's" status.
as of November 1st, 2009 we will take over 5 acres of raw land located a stones throw from bob's studio and a mere 5 miles from town. a lease to own situation that neither breaks our back or our bank. a win win.
most folks would cringe at this idea. no heat? no water? no electricity? no home?
i just hear a lot of "no's". bob and i are moved by the iconoclastic notion of bending the norm with our unconventional choices. not because we long to go against the grain, but because we know that life can be simpler and more rewarding. we very recently purchased a 1948 SPARTAN MANSION 30. these aluminum vintage beauties are a thing of the past, but have been popping up with much hype. Similar to an Airstream, but in my opinion...much more unique. Spartan Aircraft started making these travel trailers in the late 40's. This will be a project and many a happy hours gettin' her up to speed...but in the end, fully worth it. In the interim, we'll be shacking up in Rico (our 76' chevy campervan) and knocking on Karyn & Jason's door for a hot shower! Stay tuned for the restoration and life like it used to be...uncomfortable, meaningful, laborious and within means. LIFE ON BLACK BEAR...............
