tuesday night rituals

Rituals of various kinds are a feature of almost all known human societies, and tuesday nights are no exception in my world. Bob plays soccer on tuesday nights, leaving me with a few hours of alone time. Every tuesday is pretty much the same:
  • i make marinara
  • i talk to my mother over cocktails at 7pm
  • i listen to new music that we order each week from our local music shop Quimper Sound
tonight was a little different because i had a surprise visit from Jesse and his gal Maggie this afternoon. While at the Silver City Brewery they picked me up a whopping 8.5% whoop ass IPA. what a treat, what i nice gesture, what i grand way to kick off my tuesday night ritual. After that, maybe a glass of red while i cook and some sweet sounds from Costello.
three new tuesday night pics:
  • TRENTEMOLLER - The Last Resort
  • THE NATIONAL - High Violet
  • ELVIS COSTELLO & BURT BACHARACH - Painted From Memory
tonight will be a good night

PTAC 2nd overnight LENAS

the plan: depart sunday night with dinner at 6pm. arrive at lower Lena trailhead by 7:30. hike in 4 miles to lower Lena Lake, set up camp for the night. the following day, hike to the upper Lena lake, hike down, pack up, hike down again, make it home for a night cap.
since the daylight was fading, i didn't take photos of the lower lena hike. but the next morning after an awesome evening of bonfire, bottles of wine, jesse's surprise bottled beer he snuck up, bread, cheese, chocolate....was this shot.
ben and jesse making "scooters" for breakfast, jesse sneaks off into the tent, hmmm, then ben sneaks off into the tent...i sit sipping coffee. they emerge wearing this?!?! at least i had a skirt on for the occasion. thanks dapper dudes.

the "scooter" is every PTAC member's favorite breakfast dish from the Blue Moose Cafe. here jesse and ben replicate spot on with scrambled eggs, black beans, sour cream, salsa and fresh tortillas. yes please.
first meadow crossing to the upper Lena Lake

the majority of the trail to the upper lake is literally walking up a gravelly creek of flowing water and ankle twisting steps. we finally hit snow as it gets even steeper.

first snow field
engorged lena creek flowing fast under 5 - 6 feet of snow

we didn't bring a map, and with the snow had no real idea if we were in the right direction. but up we go in search of the lake

and up...

we didn't succeed in finding the lake, although i'm sure we were close.
glissading back down the snow was great, tuna melts at the camp good, but being with friends, sharing stories and exploring...the BEST. thanks guys:)

KEXP. FOOD. BEER. TOTS.

KEXP summer drive brought Bob's Bagels as a business to the studio to donate lunch to all the volunteers and staff. I didn't take pics because we just did the same thing for the spring drive a few months back...what i did document were all the extra activities we enjoyed on the other side.

DISH - a breakfast joint that we adore. and the special slacker gets 'er done.

we all know why bob chose this mug
tofu or eggs - tofu or eggs - tofu or eggs

a glimpse of half the hot sauces you can use while dining - no Linzano though
if all the world put out a chalk board each day with an ode to their favorite food...it would be.....NICE!
happy hour(s) at Zayda Buddy's - our fave MN-WA bar.
the newest beer on our lips. Seattle's Schooner Exact Brewery's - Exact 3 point IPA ...washing down tator tot pizza
did i say happy hour? 2 personal pizzas with 2 topping each = $ 12, where's the tots?
heavenly tot
