there is so much about a visit to Brooklyn that can't quite be captured in a blog entry. it also can't be captured in photos, try as i might. the experiences i had, friends i got to see and family i got to embrace can in no way be summed up below. a first and foremost THANKS to meghan and patrick for an (i know, here it comes...hold your breath...wait for it...) AMAZING visit. as for those of you who know my sister and brother in law, easy going is an understatement. staying with them was the best part of the trip by far. to see Patrick's bedhead, watch Meghan slice grapefruit each morning and be blessed to be a part of their LITTLE BIG world in brooklyn ~ i couldn't have been happier. On top of that were their gracious and entertaining friends who after so many encounters, just keep gettin' better. So thanks to you too...David, Johnny, Benny, Caitlin, Nina and that funny guy we bowled with Dr. Larry.

thanks Nina for the VIP treatment at MOMA ~ i saturday treat in the city to see Bauhaus and Tim Burton exhibit on top of the permanent collection which was all new to my eyes. faves = both Francis Bacon pieces and Tim Burton's writing.

funny thing about NYC. people do totally intimate things amongst strangers. it must be the tightness & constant crowds...the sort of "never alone" feeling. so here, surrounded by art, he's getting his shitter changed. genius & disgusting.

next stop happy hour for alone sister time and chatty catch up. treated by Bedford Cheese Shop & some tasty beer finds on Bedford.

oh yea, we're still going and it's only the first day! Johnny Hat on his way from hip-hop class...best open the Lambrusco and get ready for Motorino!

pre dinner drinks at Motorino, a stone's throw from M&P's.

strangle him meghan, strangle him with that japanese tentacle scarf...i dare you.

hm, we know what you did today.

Johnny asks "How would you pronounce this name?"

John's no shit...it's La-dash-a.

a freaking terrific sunday afternoon in Brooklyn and i was lousy with the snapper. Highlights were Cuban brunch with David, Benny & his fair fiance Julie! After that we strolled through Julie's quaint 'hood of Carol Gardens, then made our way down Atlantic to the Brooklyn Flea. An awesome flea market in a hefty old bank. see the shots of us in the dank vault in the basement...this was the obvious choice for fried Korean hotdogs, fish tacos, coffee and brew kits. clearly.

damn, i know we just had brunch...maybe just a bite.

Sir Benny Campa escapes just in time

oh yea, he's sleepy AND he's asian.

next stop. drink stop.

David sells me on the Cap'n Lawrence Gold

incredible and unaffordable beer list at Brooklyn's (i can't spell it)

monday Meeg and I took a food tour of Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn. First stop Queens for some crunchy cheese infused breads of sorts, holy cheeto bun. if i could have brought anything back it would have been these suckers.

Meghan with famous cheesy bun at Pandebono

digging for the guava one

under the 7 train in Queens...loud and i wish i could have spent more time here.

picking up some sugary Philipino treats for Patrick

next stop Momofuku Milk Bar! enjoying a tasty coffee milk and kimchi blue cheese croissant. manhattan.

the one trip regret. why didn't i stop here?

oh yea, because we went here and it was like being back in the womb but with belgian beer and frites. i would live here...at FANNY.

Me amongst friends.

i can't even talk about it. GD those addicting Arapas (aka arapers) Argentinian little sandwich's full of chimmichurri sauce, beans, cheese, onions. I awoke with nothing but 'rapers on my mind, so much that i made chimmichurri sauce with beans the next day for happy hour and looked up how to make my own Arapas.

it's snobbish. i know. but here is the bagel i had in Brooklyn. it made me sad. i giant 6 ounce wad of white bread & what is that...oats? what are oats doing hanging out on there?

tuesday i occupied myself in Brooklyn while the fam worked. I hit all the shops on the map Meghan made me, drank my share of Gimme Coffee, lolligagged in Brooklyn Kitchen, not once...but twice. Hit all the shops on Bedford then headed to the river to see Sprout, Moon River, CB I Hate Perfume, Brooklyn Brewery and on and on and on .

last night. last dance. last bowl. here we are! at Brooklyn Bowl...drowning in Brooklyn Lager (okay, that's David and I) and pulling down frame after frame. highlight, Dr. Larry taping coasters to his shoes...The viewing of full concert by Talking Heads...laughing, high 5ing and eating deviled eggs while we all molested ball after ball ~ alas we all survived with zero pink eye, no H1N1 or some rare form of dirty ball eczema.

this is form, not falling...and it does cause pain

"david, give me your beer...david....beer...give me your beer..."

beautiful!

NINJARAPERS chop chop chop.
