I recently went home to MPLS over the 4th of July to visit family and friends. It's so hard to recap all my emotions, experiences and excursions. I bobbled between photographing everything to just plain soaking it all up. So sadly I missed photo opps of some of my most favorite experiences while home, thank god for bullet points.
- seeing The Hold Steady at 1st Ave with my bestest grade school friends and band members family - a truly POSITIVE experience
- lunch and thrift store shopping with Josh, hitting our usual haunts on Nicollet Ave and beyond
- lakes, lefse and pints with my Dad
- insane pancake breakfast at Alison's, the host that can pull of any & everything
- strolling Bredeson and sipping wine with my Mom
- lakes, pints, happy hour and live music with my friends
- an afternoon too short with an amazing woman, my dear sweet Karen...hitting up some French/Vietnamese in Frogtown with local brews and bubbly
- hugging my grandmother and grinning at her resiliance and strength
- breakfast at Hot Dish with my Mom and Alison...the world's largest breakfast burrito to get yer' system movin'...cruising around Nokomis, a neighborhood host of many memories for me.
- SNAP! Meghan....we missed 2.02's !!!
- on and on and on and on...such an amazing trip and biggest thanks to everyone for all the effort, hosting, cooking, drinking, gaming (I MISS CANASTA) playing, walking, crying, talking, i love you all sweet family & friends

fathers day twins game extravaganza. this photo is so creepy weird, not only with all the sausages, but how did Paulie end up so dwarfed? p.s. those pig casings where for the entire family, minus me.

the new Twins Stadium is like a House Party. Standing room tickets are supes cheap and you can snatch a spot at the outdoor Captain's Bar with a stellar breeze, view and drinks a plenty.

i so love this photo....godfather

Daddio really enjoying his snack and game

Patrick not fooling anyone

sweet sisters

uh, sweet stadium

one of the many Stadium Bars to lounge at

Karen doing something worth laughing at

I met Karen in 1998 and ever since that day it has been a breeze. She knows me all too well and I her. If i had a 3rd sister it would be her ~ no time is ever enough, but each time is more than memorable.

typical swamp ass weather is what 4th of July brings to Mpls, at least from what i can recall. Simon and Maisy find relief in the sprinkler, wish i could have joined!

sweet goddaughter rears up for a quick yoga session with mom

downward dog

i'm sure this has a name

my mother and my grandmother who made the trip up from Quincy Illinois.

BBQ ribs feast with CSA salad and roasted farmer's market veg

I can't recall why the kids started calling Patrick (my brother in law) Uncle Feather, but it's just so dang cute. Here Simon and Uncle Feather watch a bit of the 4th of July Parade....or should i say 4th of July Politicians Parade, seriously!

Maisy taking it all in on Paul's shoulders

crazy Uncle Feather

Because Uncle Buck (aka Bob) couldn't make the trip, he strapped me down with over 24 bagels for the entire family. Here is Paul's leftover salmon salad bagel concoction.

Meg, Al and I had an incredible ladies afternoon at Lucia's and Spoonriver...sipping wine, eating local farm foods and having delightful conversation ~ i wish that could happen more often:)

Nonnie (aka my mom) reads to Maisy. I have to say, watching my folks with Simon and Maisy is truly a sight to behold....almost makes me want to move back to rear children.

At first Aunt Tutti, then Aunt Tibbi and now graduating to Aunt Lindsay reconnects with her little Maisy.

beware: below is about the most darling thing. Alison brings up laundry and says to my mom and I "watch this, Maisy LOVES to fold" so Alison chucks a bunch of towels on the couch and like a leprechaun chasing dirty shoes, Maisy scurries over to start her biddness. No smiles, no smirks, just shear concentration.

adorable!
