the week after christmas, bob and i were able to house sit for our dear friend Julie while she was in Costa Rica. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking copious amounts and took full advantage of the awesome new Emile Henry dish from Bob's parents. thanks! also gifted was a kick ass pizza cutter, see Bob above in action.

cooking up some curry with cauliflower, potato, carrot & chard

another project i was able to complete while staying at Julie's was my scarf. how easy it is to cozy up to the fire and just knit away.

after feeding the starter on wednesdays, Bob likes to take the extra starter that would otherwise get tossed and turn it into sourdough waffles. Julie had a great old beast of a waffle maker and it yielded crispy perfect waffles. Hopefully she found the stash we left her in the freezer.

finally temps are back to normal in Washington and with 50 degree, dry days it's much easier to motivate to work on the Spartan. Bob and I are currently looking at trashing most of the built in stuff and starting fresh.

a hidden treasure that i found in the recesses of the Spartan. a Safari Grill! who doesn't need one of those.

above used to be a formica vintage table that i removed. it was just too big and odd for the space. also overkill is the giant wrap around bench with cushions that were installed around the area above. that is going to the dump tomorrow.

Daphne has the best damn Food Beard in town. This year FB gifted us some serious LOOT & below are shots of Daphne relishing every little bit. Thanks Food Beard....we will SO miss Railey's!

Mark's (aka food beard) mother is an incredible knitter. included in the package were these gorgeous hats for Bob and I. thanks Barbara!

an absolute favorite and was Bobby's fave too are the Loofa Dogs.

so fancy in her pretty girl collar

killing time before the annual Polar Dip on Marrowstone, Daphne and i headed down to Fort Flagler. Here is a view looking across the water to Port Townsend.

every year on New Year's Day the Nordland Store on Marrowstone Island hosts the Polar Dip. A wonderful occasion to remove your clothes, jump in freezing water then eat free chili and drink free beer. This year we decided to be a part of the festivities by handing out free Bagels. Bob's Bagels made 160 mini 2 ounce bagels to share - and what a hit they were!

this guy was so anxious to get out of the water and get a bagel that he broke the ladder and sliced his chest on a shard of wood. (well, sort of)

"so, YOU are Bob's Bagels! you are famous!" is what i heard most the morning as people excitingly grabbed up bagels and chatted up with Bob as i snapped up photos.
