thanksgiving 2009

wow. i had such grand intentions for this post. even a creative title has seemed to slip through the cracks. a lot to be thankful for indeed, but seemingly not a lot of time to experience it. our thanksgiving was an explosion of events, falling just after what has been weeks of labour. we woke early (pre 6 am) to a drizzly day. making coffee cockeyed and dreary we hit the road for a quick hike up the steep and uninteresting Mount Walker. a mere turn off, a lame hike to pump the heart and hurt the knees...but alas, it was out and the pup was tired. back to town by noon, we scurried to prepare our dishes for a wonderful pot luck at our friend's Karyn & Jason's. a beautiful event so full of food, I was almost ashamed at our gluttony. pups romped, adults chitter chattered, babes cooed. it was a warming and memorable day. 6:30 rolled around and so did reality...we still had a job to go to...bagels. bottle of glorious wine gifted to us by Ben & Mary, we stumbled up to the bakery, Daphne in tow and cranked out 300 plus bagels while listening to some good old music. In thanks, i say, that i pray for a month of wonder, quiet and reflection...oh please!
