my boy

i haven't written in a long while ~
and as i sit and reflect on these past few months, i wonder what the message is?
after we got back to Ohio after meghan's wedding, Bobby started having some strange episodes of lethargy, loss of appetite, heavy breathing and restlessness.
we took him into the local Gahanna Vet and had blood work & x-rays done. the x-rays indicated some sort of fluid around the lungs or a mass. 3 days later we were at the ER with him where he remained for the rest of the week. They immediately removed over a liter of blood from his chest walls which was prohibiting his lungs from functioning properly. He then saw internal medicine for more ultra sounds, x-rays and blood work. They found a mass in his chest cavity and 4 masses around his kidneys. Bobby went in for surgery last wednesday where they removed a cancerous tumor on his heart the size of a lime...
Bobby has been diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma, a very aggressive and invasive cancer of the blood cells that causes hemmoraging. Bobby's tumor on his heart had hemmoraged into his chest cavity, and right now we are unsure what will happen with the masses on his kidneys as they can cause bleeding into the abdomen. Bobby is now at home, resting and recovering from surgery...we meet with the oncologist next week to discuss treatment. Thanks everyone for your thoughtful cards, gifts and prayers ~ we all sure need them!
